Joel talks about relating to teachers (0:49)

And I’m talking about the students, but I mean the staff in the schools in – in Wollongong at that stage didn’t know how to deal with an Indigenous student.  That was definitely a big factor with my schooling there.  I – because I felt segregated and there was all these big white men.  I’m – I’m not used to that, I grew up, you know – so I grew up with, you know, my – my father being a big black man and my – my uncle being a big black man.  Like I would talk to them and I would seek their assistance.  And then to have a big strange white man, I don’t know, and you don’t feel accepted already in this place, it was hard to – to get the information or – across.
